Repost from Inquirer 2/18

From definitely Filipino

View of MM pollution from the floodway

Several picture reports/photo essays were done to report that the state of air pollution in MM is still the same.  Our lungs and future of our health (respiratory and cardiac) even getting the big C is at stake (this  does not include the role of pollution on  global warming}

Why is nothing happening?  Is it due to the inaction/or even outright ineptness of government men?

I had very good student at MBA at a Science Department.  Is she  still around?

Air pollution is still the same

Clean air, act

Rizal  Philippines   | September 8, 2014

That is BGC over there; it is hardly visible

Nothing has happened to this blogs campaign to help reduce air pollution.  Couple this to the growing hardship of travelling to EDSA (thanks to MMDA, Caloocan City, LTFRB rules) you can see why traffic jams can worsen air pollution.

Can we get our clean air act together?

Nothing has changed about pollutiorn monitoring and control

Clean air, act

Rizal Philippines  | May 2, 2014

 MM view from Sumulong highway

I stopped posting on air pollution for quite a while because it is quite tiring to see that nothing is changing.  No one is acting.  Pollution from vehicles:  jeeps and tricycles are uncontrolled. No one is monitoring.  (I wonder why?)  So as I ride black soot get into my nose.  What else is new if you see these pictures?

It is best to take pictures of smoke belchers of moving vehicles.  But is dangerous and very hard to time getting the pictures

More pictures of pollution; why Supertyphoons are expected regular occurences

Clean air, act

As seen at NLEX last Feb 22, 2014

Rizal Philippines  |  March 10 2014

We said that unless there is an abatement of air pollution, as long as we continue to use dirty fossil fuel in our electricity generating power plants, we expect more carbon emission causing trapping of suns energy (the greenhouse effect) the global warming leading to climate change, one of which is the supertyphoon.

Yet, despite the thousands of life lost, and massive loss of infrastructure, nothing has stopped slowed down in air pollution.

It is still the same.

Is BGC's air quality improving this year?

Is the afternoon sea breeze blowing away air pollution in the afternoon at BGC?  In the morning, BGC is not visible from this side.

More global warming more climate change, more (breast cancer) diseases coming our way, unless this is stopped

Clean air, act

Rizal   |  Philippines  |  January 26, 2014

About half of the tricycles I see are like these

Many people, who just want to get on with their livelihood, like tricycles or jeepney business are unmindful still of the effect of their pollution on:

Global warming  -  CO2 emissions become greenhouse gases that traps suns energy that cause in temperature of oceans and atmosphere. The rise in temperature powers up typhoons, and cause bizarre climate changes.

Carcinogens  and diseases:

Pollution cause asthma and cardiovascular diseases coming from PM 2.5.  This was mentioned in earlier posts

Why is the Philippines tops in breast cancer cases?

Clean air, act

Rizal Philippines  |  January 21, 2014

Can you see the xenoestrogens, carcinogen here?

From Cheap Cures post

The Philippine Breast Cancer Org has reported that out of 187 countries surveyed, over a 30 year period from 1990 to 2010, the number of breast cancer cases in the Philippine grew by whopping. 589%  with the highest number reported in Pampanga.  No reason has been determined as the cause.  The stat is that 1/13 women will have breast cancer, 1/4 will die once diagnosed.  I hope every body stays in the 3/4 stats.

We could advance theories:

1.  Deficiency in iodine.   Most experts agree that the level of iodine is low in women with breast cancer.  The reduction in iodine in women with breast cancer is due to ingestion of bromide (found in bread) whichis anti iodine.

2.  Exposure to PAH  (Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon)   Where else do you find this except in emission of combustion engine, mostly diesel  engines.  A UP study shows the relationship  PAH from Wiki

Govt agency in charge of monitoring air pollution reports 3x level of pollution post New Year compared to last year

Clean air, act

From Rappler by Pia Ranada

TOXIC REVELRY. During the first few hours of the new year, air pollution in Metro Manila skyrockets

EMB of DENR, using PM (particulate matter ) 10 as a gauge (as mandated by Clean Air Act) for the said agency to monitor was up 3x compared to the same period last year.  While this did not look very visible, it is indeed alarming.   WHO monitors the PM 2.5, the much smaller particles, (they can enter the lungs, alveoli and the cardiovascular system causing not only respiratory disease but also cardio vascular diseases)  We have to amend the law so that DENR employs the new and more relevant health related monitoring.  We were fortunate though the sun shone brightly the following day, and there was light breeze, so the pollutants might have been blown over the ocean (where they could precipitate typhoons, and we did have typhoons lately hahaha)

Some top ten cures for asthma

Clean air, act

Natural Treatment for Asthma from Plant Cures

Rizal Philippines

A number of people I know, including my wife and children are having very bad and frequent asthma attacks lately.  This is due to the cold weather, which contributes pollutants to get lower and irritate the respiratory tracts of individuals.

It may help to go to this link about asthma cures and get some relief soon, the natural way.  As we all know, pharma cures for asthma, are bad for heart and cardio vascular health, since they are mostly sympathomimetics or steroid in nature.  Try the natural cures.

Polluted air leads to increase in asthmatic attacks lately?

Clean air, act

Angono, Rizal | Philippines | January 6, 2013

Is the increase in pollution level triggering many asthmatic attacks and coughing fits lately.  Eveybody in the house are suffering from ashhmatic attacks and coughing fits lately.  Could it be due to colder weather forcing pollutants to settle down into streets and houses, which  we inhale.

From science daily; aerolized diesel particles triggered allergic asthma like attacks

From Ohio State U: smoke, allergens, irritants, severe exercise are triggers to asthma
