Clean air, act

From Philstar Spybits
Babe Romualdez mentioned in his column Spybits that pollution in MM is worse than ever. While he does not have data (nor does EMB) to prove or disprove this statement, many are worried about the pea soup cloud that hangs over MM. While MM has not joined the list of top 10 most polluted city in the world, it may according to WHO, soon.
What can be done to abate this pollution?
1. Stricter enforcement of Clean air act: by LTO (nabibili ang emission test result di po ba)
2. Stricter roadside testing (do not use this for illegal or fundraising)
3. Going by renewables:
1. solar tricycles (tricycles are a necessity but are notorious for pollution especially the 2 stroke engines)
2. renewable clean source of energy; wind and solar. Our base loads are mostly coal and DOE worries more about the cost of power gen. Why not go CNG may Malampaya naman at rich source of CNG sa Palawan area.
Are we beholden to the fossil fuel company and other GenCos, DUs?
Then, (about a year ago)
Now (is it better or worse?)
MM shrouded by clouds of pollution
Naaay! Lonely advocate yata ako. Ako lang matiyaga na nagpopost sa MM pollution
This site would like followers and leaders to be aware of air pollution and how it impacts our lives and health. We seem to be uncaring about this growing serious problem which we know is there but we do nothing. Shall we wait for air pollution to be as serious as in Beijing? When do we act? Air pollution, Metro Manila, , lung, heart, cancer, diseases, global warming, low visibility, PM 2.5, Clean Air Act, smoke belchers, climate change, super typhoons, drought, AQI
